Report cards for Georgia schools released

ATLANTA (AP) - State education officials say Georgia's elementary and middle schools improved overall during the last two years. But high schools on average are struggling to boost their students' performance.

That's according to new data released on Monday. The state is releasing two years of scores for school districts, including an update to previously released 2012 numbers.

The original 2012 numbers were the result of a similar system, rating schools on a scale of 100.

Georgia Connections Academy to hold open enrollment

(WXIA)--Georgia Connections Academy, a statewide provider of high-quality, highly accountable virtual K-12 schooling, has opened enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year and will be conducting in person information sessions with parents and students across the state.

“We are enrolling 1000 additional students across all grade levels for the coming academic year,” said Lead Principal Heather J. Robinson. “We have a waiting list as we open enrollment, so we encourage parents to get their applications in now.”
