Macon Co. Fire Takes First Place in State Competition | News
Macon County's volunteer fire department went head to head against fire departments across the state and came out on top.
They attended the Georgia State Firefighters Association & Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs in Albany and won first during the firefighters competition, according to a release.
The competition involved: quick dress, busted hose, bucket brigade and hose evolution.
Macon County's fire department was started in 2010 to serve unincorporated areas in the county, covering 390 square miles.
They have 2 stations and two substations, and the 45 volunteers don't man the stations.
