One Shot, Hospitalized After Fight in Montezuma | Crime
A 53-year-old Montezuma man was airlifted to Macon after a fight during which he was shot.
Police have arrested and charged 29-year-old Deon Lamar Smith for shooting Geoffrey Larry several times "in the leg area," according to a news release.
Smith was receiving treatment at the Flint River Community Hospital for a head injury when he was arrested.
He told officers Larry hit him in the head, which is why he shot Larry, who was later taken by helicopter to the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Smith is in the Macon County jail on four counts of aggravated battery and one charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The shooting is still under investigation.
