Tornadoes Struck Two Central Ga. Counties Saturday

The National Weather Service has determined that tornadoes struck both Macon and Dooly Counties Saturday.

National Weather Service assessment teams headed out to the areas, and determined that an EF-1 tornado hit Southeast Macon County Saturday.

The team says the tornado started as an EF-0 in Macon County with winds hitting around 75 MPH, but strengthened to an EF-1 as wind gusts moved along Highway 49 peaking at 110 MPH.

The National Weather Service says in Macon County, about 25 trees were snapped and uprooted, five homes had roof damage, one home lost its porch, and another was completely destroyed.

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-0 tornado struck ground in North Dooly County around 4:15 p.m.

The team says winds reached about 80 MPH and uprooted several trees. They describe the damage path as sporadic and say it touched ground along a 5.5 mile path. The team says one power pole was knocked down.

Central Georgia Juniors to Play in All Star Game

Risingseniors.com is a developmental program created to assist high school juniors with their athletic, academic and social development.

They have gathered the top 100 junior football players from across the state to participate in the AT&T Georgia Junior Bowl this Friday.

There are 10 student athletes from Central Georgia on the East side. 

First off, the Wilcox duo of wideout Jonathan Howard and Makhail Grace who will be featured as a corner back.

Coach Lee Campbell's Sherodd Ruff out of Crisp County will be playing safety. Macon's own Nigel Bowden from Central will hold it down at linebacker. And Derrick Farrow out of Bleckley will also play defense for the East team.

On the west side, Dooly County's Montravious Adams will play defensive tackle.
